Most people know Lindsey Lohan through the fact that she started acting when she was really young and developed a very promising career in the entertainment industry, until she started having problems with drugs and alcohol. Until her moment of personal life collapse, she was a part of many productions. Lohan also started a musical career on the side, through which she wanted to show that she is talented from a variety of other points of view. More to this, the aim of the music produced by her was to find a way to express herself and her most inner feelings. During this part of her activity, she released 2 studio albums, 8 singles, 9 music videos and 6 soundtracks.
Due to the fact that she started out her acting career as a main actress for Disney productions, such as The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, Lohan started her musical venture in terms of creating soundtracks for her movies. Through these, she showed that her musical skills were to be noticed and therefore was given a five-album contract, in 2002, with Emilio Estefan, deal which has later on dropped and replaced with one from Tommy Mottola, in 2004, at Casablanca Records. This was the moment in which her actual musical career was initiated, as she started to produce records.
The two studio albums released by the singer have been Speak (2004) and A Little More Personal (Raw) (2005). The first album managed to gain the artist a Platinum sale certification, while the latter, a Gold one, both in the US. Before the apparition of the albums, Lindsey Lohan came out with the single Drama Queen (That Girl) from the soundtrack for Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. After this, the first album was released and songs started to come out from it in order to become new singles. Rumors was the first single and it portrayed the relationship between the singer and the paparazzi. It also brought her a Gold certification in sales and a nomination for “Best Pop Video” at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards. Other songs released from the same album were: “Over” and “First”.
A Little More Personal (Raw), the second album, is also the one closest to her heart, due to the fact that most of the songs reveal a certain aspect of her private life. “Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)” was one of the songs to stir up the interest of the whole world, because of the well known issues she has had with her father and also because, after the release of the material, Lindsey Lohan and her father started a very public dialogue through the usage of the media. Finally, in 2008, she released the song “Bossy”, from the concept album Spirit in the Dark.
These have been the main installments of Lindsey Lohan’s musical career. The final album Spirit in the Dark was never completely released, as its songs only came out as teasers. In addition to these more personal productions, Lindsey Lohan has been a part of the album her sister Ali released and of numerous other productions from various artists. She was a featured singer on various materials and a cameo video appearance many times. Unfortunately, even this part of her general career took a down fall once with the degradation of the state of her personal life in front of the whole world. Fans are hoping that Lohan will come back to entertainment and that she will continue to pursue both acting and singing.
